MRCOG Part 3 is considered a golden qualification in the community of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The MRCOG Part 3 Objective Structured Clinical Examination consists of 14 tasks in a circuit, each task based on one of the 14 modules detailed in the syllabus.

Dates To Keep In Mind

Aspirants have a time of 5 days to confirm their slots through the MRCOG Part 3 priority booking window. The booking window opened on 29 February 2024 and closes on Monday, 4 March 2024. Furthermore, the second window will be opening on 7 March 2024 and closes on 11 March 2024. The exam will be conducted on both 8, 9 May 2024 and 13, 14 May 2024, and the results will be announced by Wednesday, 12 June 2024.

Thoroughly Review Guidelines.

Carefully review the updated booking guidelines on the college website, as there may be slight changes in the booking process every year. Understand the instructions before initiating the booking.

Remember username, password, and login.

First, keep yourself logged in to your registered email address. You need to take note of your RCOG username and password. In case you forgot your password, don’t worry; you have an option to reset your password.

Consider Time Zones

Be aware of the time zone difference. Exam bookings typically commence at 9:00 a.m. UK time, so adjust your actions accordingly based on your country’s time zone.

Strategic Seat Selection.

Opt for the first available seat without delay. Don’t hesitate in selecting a seat, as waiting might result in losing the opportunity. Swiftly proceed to the payment step.

Double-Check the Payment Details.

Double-check all payment details, ensuring the accuracy of the billing address name. Provide the cardholder’s address and verify the information to avoid further problems.

Avoid Multiple Booking Link Openings.

Refrain from opening the booking link in multiple browsers. Use the unique booking link sent to your registered email or copy and paste it into a single web browser.

Ensure Stable Internet Connection.

Guarantee a stable internet connection to prevent site crashes due to heavy traffic.  Ensure stable Internet connection at the time of booking.

MRCOG Part 3 Exam: Get Familiar with The Test and Take Note Of 2024 Exam Dates

The MRCOG Part 3 exam is a clinical assessment of knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies. Candidates clearing this exam will be further awarded the title of MRCOG and membership of the college. Lastly, this exam is the gateway for UK trainees to pass from core training to higher training. (ST6 and ST7).

Format Of MRCOG Part 3 Exam

The MRCOG Part 3 clinical assessment consists of 14 tasks in a circuit. Moreover, each task is based on one of the 14 modules mentioned in the syllabus.

Each of the MRCOG Part 3 exam module is assessed in the context of five domains:

– Patient safety

– Communication with patients and their relatives

– Communication with colleagues

– Information gathering

– Applied clinical knowledge

Each task is 12 minutes in length including two minutes of initial reading time.

Examiners

A trained clinical examiner will feature on all 14 tasks.

A trained lay examiner will feature on four of the 14 tasks. The lay examiner will further assess the domains of communication, patient safety and information gathering from the perspective of the patient.

Types Of Tasks

There are two types of tasks in the MRCOG Part 3:

Simulated Patient or Colleague Tasks

These tasks involve the candidate interacting with an actor who has been trained and fully briefed in the role she or he is to play. Besides, the actor will be aware of the necessary details pertaining to the case. In addition, some scripted questions to prompt if needed will also be provided to the actor.

Structured Discussion Tasks

These tasks entail the candidate interacting directly with a clinical examiner. The examiner will further possess detailed instructions about the task and a list of questions that they can use to prompt the candidate or to move the task on to ensure that the candidate does not run out of time. Lastly, the examiner may give the candidate further information as the scenario evolves and then ask further questions.

MRCOG Part 3 Exam Dates

The exam will be held twice in 2024 in the months of May and November respectively. According to RCOG website, the venues for MRCOG Part 3 Exam are Chennai, Malaysia, UAE, London, Delhi and Singapore.
