Format Of MRCOG Part 3 Exam

The MRCOG Part 3 clinical assessment consists of 14 tasks in a circuit. Moreover, each task is based on one of the 14 modules mentioned in the syllabus.

Each of the MRCOG Part 3 exam module is assessed in the context of five domains:

– Patient safety

– Communication with patients and their relatives

– Communication with colleagues

– Information gathering

– Applied clinical knowledge

Each task is 12 minutes in length including two minutes of initial reading time.

Examiners

A trained clinical examiner will feature on all 14 tasks.

A trained lay examiner will feature on four of the 14 tasks. The lay examiner will further assess the domains of communication, patient safety and information gathering from the perspective of the patient.

Types Of Tasks

There are two types of tasks in the MRCOG Part 3:

Simulated Patient or Colleague Tasks

These tasks involve the candidate interacting with an actor who has been trained and fully briefed in the role she or he is to play. Besides, the actor will be aware of the necessary details pertaining to the case. In addition, some scripted questions to prompt if needed will also be provided to the actor.

Structured Discussion Tasks

These tasks entail the candidate interacting directly with a clinical examiner. Description Of MRCOG Part 3 Exam.

The aim of the MRCOG Part 3 exam is to evaluate the ability of the candidate to apply core clinical skills. The exam examines further how the candidate applies these skills in the context of the skills, knowledge, attitudes and competencies defined in the MRCOG Part 2 and MRCOG Part 1 curriculum.

In addition, the MRCOG Part 3 exam assesses five core skill domains. They are patient safety, communication with patients and families, communication with colleagues, information gathering and applied clinical knowledge.

Applying For the Exam

Candidates who are eligible can apply online for the MRCOG Part 3 exam. The application period is open only for a short period of time. Furthermore, you can visit the MRCOG Part 3 exam calendar page on MRCOG Official website for information about when you can apply. Lastly, if you have any requests for special arrangements during the exam, they have to be submitted before the closing date for applications.

Number Of Attempts

Candidates are permitted to attempt the MRCOG Part 3 OSCE exam four times. Candidates who are unable to pass in four attempts are required to take the MRCOG Part 2 exam again. For candidates sitting the digital remote exam for the first time, this does not count as an attempt.

Requirements For Remote Exam

Your computer should be set up with a few technical requirements to enable Osler Online to work. It is an online application.

Only laptops or PCs can be used. Osler Online will not work with tablets or mobile devices. In addition, NHS work laptops or desktops should not be used. They can block webcam or microphone permissions which interfere with the program.

NHS internet Wi-Fi should not be used as they can block the program. In addition, you can use only Windows or Mac Operating systems. Windows 7 or newer and Sierra 10.12 or newer is needed. Furthermore, only Google Chrome web browser should be used. Lastly, webcam and microphone need to be enabled.

Over the head headphones are recommended. Moreover, headphones with a microphone in the cord should not be used. They can scratch off clothes and hair and cause feedback. Minimum screen resolution required is 1024 x 768.

You will need a stable internet connection for your exam. Besides, a wired connection is preferred. WiFi should suffice if you have a good signal and are situated near the router.

In addition, the minimum recommended bandwidth for Osler Online is 1.5 mbps for both upload and download. This should be supported by most broadband and fibre internet providers.

Make sure that you ask other users to limit or stop their usage during your exam if you are using a shared internet. This will prevent your internet quality from being affected.

Timeframe For Exam Attempts

There is no time limit between passing the MRCOG Part 2 exam and attempting the MRCOG Part 3 exam. However, you are required to attempt Part 3 exam at least once within seven years after passing the MRCOG Part 2.

If any candidate does not attempt the MRCOG Part 3 OSCE exam within the timeframe of seven years, they will be required to take the MRCOG Part 2 exam again.

Are you a candidate aspiring to crack Part 3, the final stage of MRCOG examination? Here is an important announcement for you. The deadline for the Assessment of Training (AoT) is quickly approaching.

MRCOG Part 3 is the final step in achieving membership with the prestigious Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Before undertaking the MRCOG Part 3 exam, it is your responsibility to ensure the approval of your Assessment of Training (AoT). The RCOG has confirmed 13th of July 2023 as the deadline for the upcoming MRCOG Part 3 November 2023 examination.

What is Assessment of Training (AoT)? Everything you need to know:

If you are an MRCOG Part 3 aspirant who have not yet completed your assessment of training (AoT), now it’s high time to ensure it. Remember the candidate must have to evaluate their training before the part 3 examination. This approval is mandatory for sitting in the part 3 examination.

The Assessment of Training incurs no application fee. Once you have successfully submitted your AoT,an email containing an acknowledgment message will be sent to you. If the RCOG requires any additional information, they will contact you via mail. Usually, it takes up to 4 weeks for your AoT application to be processed.

There are 2 routes through which post-registration training is assessed to confirm eligibility to enter into the Part 3 MRCOG exam:
Candidates in a recognized UK specialist training program can follow Route A.
Candidates who are not in a recognized UK specialist training program can apply through Route 2.

Note, Candidates who had their Assessment of Training approved prior to July 2019 as part of their MRCOG Part 2 eligibility requirements need not reapply.

MRCOG Part 3 for May 2023 examination, priority booking window opens on Thursday, 2 March 2023 and closes on Monday – 6 March 2023. Further more the second window will be opening on 9 March 2023 and closes on 13 March 2023.

Here are some of the most useful exams booking tips and tricks for students to get a slot in the exam.

Keep your mails open

First and foremost, thing is to keep yourself logged in to your registered mail ID. If you are in the habit of logging out your mail all the time, please ensure that you are logged in .

Know your Time Zones

Exam bookings open at 9:00AM UK time. So, you need to know your country’s time zone and act accordingly.

Avoid multiple opening of booking link

Either you can click directly on to the unique booking link you get in your registered mail id or copy and paste it in a web browser like Google chrome. But you should completely avoid opening the booking link in more than one browser. This will result in error making.

Click and book your slot

Once you click on to the booking link, it will take you to the official RCOG website where you should enter your RCOG registered email ID. Once it is done, the booking slots would open and click on to the first slot that appears on the screen. After that, click on to the NEXT button you find to the right-hand side of the window to move further.

Confirm Payment details

While entering the card details, make sure the correct card holders name, address and CVV number is entered. Once it is done correctly, submit your details and will receive a confirmation from RCOG for your successful completion of procedures.

Ensure good internet connection

Majority of the time the site crashes due to heavy traffic. Lots of people apply simultaneously. Hence, you need to make sure you have good internet connection.

Be Patient and don’t panic

Have a tech savvy person in case of assistance required
