It is time for you to take the first step towards Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG). The MRCOG Part 1 exam is scheduled for 30 June 2026. To attend, you must first clear the administrative gateway known as Eligibility.

With the 10 March 2026 eligibility deadline approaching fast, it’s time for candidates to act fast to ensure they are cleared to book the MRCOG Part 1 exam. Missing this window doesn’t just mean missing a test; it means delaying your career progression by an entire exam diet.

What is the MRCOG Part 1 Eligibility Form?

Before you even try to book the exam, the RCOG must verify that you are qualified as a medical professional. The Eligibility Form is a mandatory application that first-time candidates must complete and submit to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) to confirm their eligibility to sit for the MRCOG Part 1 examination. The RCOG confirms that you hold a recognised primary medical degree and are currently in good standing with a medical regulatory body.

The Eligibility Deadline: Don’t Miss!

The RCOG is strict when it comes to deadlines. For the upcoming June 2026 exam, March 10, 2026, is the final date to submit your eligibility application.

Keep in mind that this is the submission deadline, not the approval deadline. However, because the RCOG processes thousands of applications globally, waiting until the final 24 hours is a high-risk strategy. Technical glitches or missing documents at the last minute could cost you months of waiting.

Essential Documents for Your Application

For your application, you need to provide certain documents, such as:

  1. Primary Medical Degree: You must provide a clear scan of your original primary medical qualification, like MBBs or equivalent. If the original is not in English, you must provide an authorised translation alongside the original.
  2. Medical Registration Certificate: A scanned copy of your valid registration document with a medical body (GMC, IMC, or your local national medical council).
  3. Government Issues ID: A passport is the most suitable ID, though candidates also submit a driver’s license or birth certificate. Note that the name on your ID must match your medical degree perfectly. If you have changed your name (e.g., through marriage), you must upload legal proof, such as a marriage certificate.
  4. Attested Copies: You cannot simply scan a photocopy. A non-relative official—such as a Notary Public, Lawyer, or Embassy Officer—must sign and date the copies, stating they are “true copies of the original.”

Do You Have to Resubmit the Eligibility Form if You Sat the Exam Previously?

This is a frequent point of confusion. The rule is simple: The eligibility form is only for first-time candidates.

  • First-time candidate: You must submit the eligibility form by 10 March 2026.
  • Returning candidates: If you have sat the MRCOG Part 1 before, your eligibility is already “on the file”. Therefore, you don’t have to submit again.

What to Do After Submitting Your Eligibility

Once you submit your eligibility, you have crossed the first hurdle, and now it’s time to shift your journey from administrative to academic.

  1. Monitor Your Email: If there is any issue with your documents, the RCOG will communicate it to you through email.
  2. Prepare for the Booking Window: Once you are eligible, you must wait for the Booking Window to open. This is when you select your Pearson VUE test centre and pay the exam fee. These spots are first-come, first-served, so being “Eligible” early allows you to jump into the booking queue the second it opens.
  3. Intensify Your Revision: Now that the paperwork is out of the way, it’s time to focus on the syllabus. The MRCOG Part 1 mainly focuses on basic sciences, such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Statistics. Use this 4-week processing wait to master the high-yield topics.

Conclusion

The 10 March 2026 deadline is the first step towards your MRCOG journey. Precision in your paperwork reflects the precision required in the O&G profession. By gathering your certified documents now and submitting well ahead of the cut-off, you remove the stress of administrative failure and clear the path to focus on what really matters: passing the exam.
