You faced the MRCOG Part 1 and Part 2 exams, remembering every module, verifying every question you answered, and counting every second. However, now the wait is almost over. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) is set to release the results for the MRCOG Part 1 and Part 2 exams on 11 February 2026.
Whether this was your first attempt at Part 1 or your final hurdle before the Part 3 clinicals, this date marks a massive milestone in your career. Here is everything you need to know about the result announcement, including how to access your results and plan your next move.
The Countdown: What to Expect on 11 February?
The RCOG releases the results during UK working hours. While there is no “fixed” time, most candidates find their portals updated by mid-morning to early afternoon (GMT).
Tip: When the result is published, you can expect the RCOG website to be slow, as doctors from all over the world will be trying to access their results.
How to Check Your MRCOG Results?
Here’s the step-by-step guide to check your results:
- Visit the RCOG Exam Candidate Portal: Log in to your personal account using your registered email and password. Results are published here.
- Check Your Registered Email: The RCOG Examination Department sends individual results directly to the email address used during registration. Be sure to check your spam or junk folder if you don’t find the official email in the primary folder.
- Access Your Results: Once you have logged in, navigate to the “Exam Results” or “My Exams” section to view your results, displaying score, pass/fail status, and performance breakdown.
- Download and Save: It is recommended to download a PDF copy of your result for your records, especially for future applications or Part 2 registration. You can also view the breakdown of your performance across different modules, allowing you to understand your strengths and weaknesses.
Understanding Your Results
For Part 1, your result mainly depends on the performance you display on your exam, which includes two papers containing 100 SBAs each. For Part 2, it is a mix of SBAs and EMQs. The RCOG uses a standard setting to determine the pass mark for each specific diet. Now, let’s understand what happens after you know your results:
Scenario A: You Passed! What’s Next?
You successfully completed the MRCOG exam, validating your dedication and clinical knowledge. But in the world of RCOG, one victory usually means it’s time to prepare for the next challenge.
- Passed Part 1: Once you have passed Part 1, you are eligible to sit for MRCOG Part 2; however, you have to be careful, as it is a jump in difficulty, moving from basic sciences to applied clinical knowledge. You should aim to start your Part 2 preparation at least 6-9 months before the next exam date.
- Passed Part 2: You’re on your final stretch: The MRCOG Part 3 OSCE. This exam is less about what you know and more about how you perform. For this exam, you have to master communication, patient safety, and clinical tasks.
Scenario B: If You Didn’t Make It (Hopefully doesn’t happen)
If your result isn’t what you expected, it is not the end. Do not let it define your career. Most candidates and most successful consultants today didn’t pass the exams on their first try.
You have to keep in mind that the RCOG has a strict limit of six attempts for Part 1 and Part 2 combined. If you have already attempted three times, it is time for you to change your strategy, because you can’t keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result is a recipe for frustration. Look at your feedback report:
- Understand what domain you were weak in.
- Understand how much time you took to answer each question.
Identify the weaknesses you made in this exam and turn them into your strengths in the next exam with the help of a mentor.
