Check Your Eligibility
In order to be eligible to sit the MRCOG Part 3 exam, candidates must have sat and passed the MRCOG Part 2 exam. Candidates must also satisfy eligibility requirements regarding attempts, as stipulated in the Exam Regulations.
- Must have passed both Part 1 and Part 2
- Must have Assessment of Training (AoT) approved before booking
- Must apply within 7 years of passing Part 2
- Attempt limit: Maximum of 4 attempts (separate from Parts 1 & 2)
Complete your Assessment of Training (AoT)
You must complete the Assessment of Training (AoT) and receive approval before applying for MRCOG Part 3.
When to Apply:
- Can apply after passing MRCOG Part 1
- Apply anytime, but approval is mandatory before booking Part 3
- Processing time: Up to 4 weeks

Route A: For Trainees in a Recognised UK Specialist Training Programme
Eligibility:
- Must be in intermediate training (ST3 or above) at the time of AoT application
Documents Required:
- RCOG College account number
- General Medical Council (GMC) registration number
- National Training Number (NTN)
Route B: For All Other Candidates (Non-UK Programmes)
Training Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years full-time (or equivalent) post-registration training in O&G
- At least 2 of those years must be within the last 4 years
- Each post must be at least 6 consecutive months in duration
- Overseas hospital-based posts are accepted
- Flexible training permitted with prior RCOG approval
- Training completed before passing Part 1 may be counted

- RCOG account number
- Medical registration number
- Scans or photos of the following:
○ Internship or pre-registration certificate
○ Medical registration certificate
○ Certificates or letters for each post-registration O&G position
Certificate / Letter Submission Guidelines
Who can issue the certificate/letter?
- Must be from your Consultant-in-Charge or Chair of the Division.
Who can certify (attest) the copy (with ink signature)?
- A Fellow or Member of the College
- University or hospital that issued the certificate
- British Council or your embassy
- A solicitor
Format requirements
- Printed on official hospital letterhead
- Clearly state:
- Post title and nature of work
- Post grade
- Exact start and end dates of the post
- Do not submit contracts or appointment letters
Document standards
- Written in English (or with an authorised translation)
- Legible and scanned/photographed directly from the original (no photocopy scans)
Certifier must:
- Sign and date the document in English
- State their full name and address
- Confirm it is a true copy of the original
- Certifier must not be a relative or the applicant
