MRCOG (Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) is a membership examination of RCOG. It is regarded worldwide as the gold standard qualification in the obstetrics & gynaecology specialty. An aspirant is required to go through a three-part assessment to complete the MRCOG membership exam.

MRCOG Part 1 Exam

MRCOG Part 1 is the first stage of the RCOG’s membership exam. The objective of this part is basically to assess the understanding of a candidate in the basic and clinical sciences relevant to Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

MRCOG Part 1 Exam Pattern

The MRCOG Part 1 comprises two papers, SBA paper 1 and SBA paper 2. Both the tests are computer-based. Each paper consists of 100 questions with a single best answer (SBA). Each  paper receives the same number of points, so paper 1 receives 50% of the total, and paper 2  also counts for 50 per cent of the total marks. There are no minimum score requirements for  both papers. A candidate’s overall mark is the only factor in determining the outcome.
